La Lune has been a fixture on Fish Lane since 2017, when founders Paul McGivern and Bailee Dewes opened their doors with a simple but deeply held vision: a wine bar that felt as warm and welcoming as it was impressive. For nearly a decade they built something rare — a community-driven room where wine lovers and curious newcomers alike could always feel at home.
Since June 2026, La Lune has been in the hands of new co-owners Merrick Peisley and Andy Day, who together are writing its next chapter — one shaped by Burgundy, natural wine, and a stubborn belief that hospitality is at its best when it feels personal.
The story really begins at Rizla, Andy's celebrated Canberra wine bar — the one that took out Australia's Best Wine List (Max 100 Wines). Merrick, a long-time devotee of small-grower wine and the rooms that champion it, spent years as one of Rizla's most regular faces. What started as a friendship over shared bottles became a plan: bring that same magic to Brisbane, in a room that already had the soul to carry it.
Andy now leads La Lune as co-owner and General Manager — the face on the floor and the voice behind the list. Expect him to know your name, your usual table, and what you're in the mood for before you've sat down.
